Symptoms of P0131 error code Generic
In general, there are no visible symptoms for code P0131, with the exception of the following:

• The Check Engine Service light is on.
• May have high fuel consumption.
• Excessive exhaust smoke.

Reasons for entering the OBD2 code P0131 Generic
One of the main reasons for this DTC P0131 is that the oxygen sensor (LAMBDA O2) is damaged.

• The oxygen sensor (O2 LAMBDA) circuit may be shorted.
• The circuit may be open to an oxygen sensor (O2) signal.

DTC Description P0131 Generic
Diagnostic code P0131 OBDII tells us that the voltage remained low for more than 2 minutes. PCM (Power Control Module) interprets this voltage as a low voltage state and activates the Check Engine control on the clocks there

Note: This sensor (02 Lambda oxygen sensor) is located near the catalyst.
